See How the Right Insulation Saved Daniel Thousands in Heating Costs
Having an uncomfortable home is already a problem homeowners don’t want to deal with, but coupling that with astronomical energy bills makes it almost unbearable.
That was Daniel Mydlowski’s life. He was living in a home in Manistee that had drafts in every single room and he was paying huge electric and propane bills.
Mydlowski was using two heaters around the house to keep warm, but the temperature was barely hitting between 50 and 60 degrees. His monthly electric bills were hitting between $260 to $280 and was using close to 1,000 gallons of propane.
It was when Mydlowski was having his propane filled that he saw an advertisement for RetroFoam of Michigan. He called and decided foam insulation would be a great fit for his home.
“I’m always telling people it’s not cheap, but I saved 75 percent off of propane and my electric bill went down by almost half,” Mydlowski said. “That was in just one year. I probably saved around $1,500 in my first year.”
After having his entire home insulated with foam insulation, Mydlowski said his propane has been stable for the past two years. He said his propane usage is down between 75 and 80 percent.
The air seal created with injection foam in the walls and spray foam insulation in the attic and basement area kept the cold winter air outside where it belongs. The foam insulation also made it possible for every room in Mydlowski’s home to maintain a comfortable temperature.
Mydlowski said the temperature stays constant and comfortable in his home and so far this year he hasn’t had to turn on the furnace. He said even his basement is comfortable and he has even more room for storage.
“I’ve just been beyond impressed with the results of having everything done,” Mydlowski said. “Now my attic can be used for storage because the temperature stays balanced. I’ve just been so pleased with the result.”
