“To err is human; to forgive, divine.” Alexander Pope
You’ve likely seen this quote around and basically, it means that everyone makes mistakes. The way a person, or in this case a company, handles their mistakes says a lot about their character.
RetroFoam of Michigan has been insulating homes with foam insulation across the lower peninsula since 2002. But with all that experience, no one is perfect, and mistakes can happen.
That’s why we offer a lifetime warranty that covers not only the foam insulation but also the workmanship.
Homeowner Kim Owen didn’t think about what that lifetime warranty meant.
Nearly a decade ago, Kim had the exterior walls and crawl space insulated by Retrofoam of Michigan with foam insulation. He and his wife were happy and noticed their home was more comfortable and energy efficient. It wasn’t until years later that Owen realized there was a problem.
Kim first noticed there were gaps in his walls when he removed a window on the east side of his home. Then a few more when he removed a window from his bathroom. It never occurred to him to contact RetroFoam of Michigan about these gaps in insulation.
Social media is a great tool, especially when dealing with a company that is active.
Kim’s wife, Ann Marie Owen, commented on a RetroFoam of Michigan Facebook post mentioning the problem they discovered with gaps in their exterior walls. RetroFoam responded quickly and the Owens received a phone call right away to get an injection foam crew to their home to fix the problem.
The Owens didn’t know what to expect when Ann Marie reached out, so they were pleasantly surprised with the result.
At the end of September, crews were back out at Kim and Ann Marie’s home to get to the root of the insulation gaps. A scan was performed around the exterior walls using an infrared camera to make sure there were no additional gaps.
The gaps in foam insulation that Kim found were identified and fixed at no additional cost to the Owens. This is because RetroFoam of Michigan offers a lifetime warranty that covers the homeowners we work with.
Kim said it never crossed his mind to reach out, but now he’s glad his wife did.
And just as this all started on social media, Ann Marie took to RetroFoam of Michigan’s Facebook to show her appreciation.
