It may sound counter intuitive, but ceiling fans aren’t only to be used during the warm, summer months.
Since heat rises, use ceiling fans this winter to push warm air away from the ceiling and spread out more evenly in the room. Your family will feel warmer, and your furnace (or heating source) will work less.
Just remember to run your fan on a slow speed and reverse the motor to the clockwise direction (opposite of the default summer rotation). This will create a “gentle updraft,” according to Energy Star.
Don’t discriminate your ceiling fans this winter – put them to work for a more comfortable home!
